Nestled in the western valley of Summerlin and next to the Badlands golf course, the Suncoast Hotel and Casino is a whole world unto itself. The resort features a casino, movie theater, bowling alley, spa, and many quality restaurants. You will not be disappointed with spacious and inviting rooms, excellent service, fun and good food.
Service is excellent, right from the moment we called to inquire about rates, to check in and check out time. The staff at Suncoast had genuine smiles and were happy and pleasant to work with. The property is clean and welcoming, and even the remote corners of employee-only doors show no accumulation of dust. Cigarette smoke here is at a minimum, which together with the whirring and dinging of slot machines, is more of a comforting undertone reminding that you are still in Las Vegas after all. The cocktail waitresses all wear the old style Vegas uniforms, complete with high waisted v-cut bottoms. Music was uniform throughout the property, with even the bars and restaurants on the same channel, minimizing the white noise that is so prevalent in other resorts.
Rooms at Suncoast are large and welcoming, and feature a refrigerator, television, coffee machine, and pull out sofa bed. Bathrooms are a standard dual sink and shower over tub configuration. The room was exceptionally clean even in the corners, and the bathroom was spotless. In room coffee was actually delicious as opposed to a last option. We noticed that the creamer and sugar package was from Opportunity Village, a local non-profit that helps adults with special needs. The rooms on the north side of the building are more expensive and overlook the golf course and greenery, while the south side of the building overlooks the Las Vegas strip, parking lot, and the air conditioning systems. On lower floors the air conditioners can hum fairly loudly though not unbearably. The exterior lights used to illuminate the building were bright through the window, but the blackout curtains were perfectly effective and we slept quite well.
Outside the pool and hot tub overlook the beautiful country club and Red Rock Canyon. The hot tub is an accommodating 4 leaf clover shape that gives couples an intimate feeling without crowding others. One major plus is that the pool area is open for a full 15 hours a day, leaving you plenty of time in the evening to relax after the powerful desert sun has vanished over the horizon.
The fitness center was not the largest, newest, or cleanest we have seen. If we have a complaint about the Suncoast, it is that in an otherwise pristine and clean property, the machines here seemed a bit dirty with evidence of sweat. The treadmill seemed to conspire with the air to generate static electricity, leading to a few shocking experiences upon touching the heart monitor railing.
We met a couple here who stays exclusively at Suncoast when they visit Las Vegas and we understand why. Unfortunately the new trend seems to be no deals for locals, but dollar for dollar the Suncoast is one of the top hotel values off strip in Las Vegas. Even the resort fee was not unreasonable considering the quality of the property. If you are looking for a high quality, lower key experience close to shopping and great restaurants, look no further.
