Easily accessible to the rest of the city by the nearby beltway, Green Valley Ranch is located in a premier area in Henderson, Nevada. Everything about this hotel is beautiful, from the drive down Paseo Verde to the intricate tiles in the bathrooms. The lobby is clean white accented with golds and browns. The staff at the check-in counter were pleasant and genuinely excited to help with any questions we had.

The new Starbucks in the lobby sits opposite of the registration desk and there are plenty of seats in the area to accommodate many people reading the morning paper or working. The lobby bar has a white marble table top and a modern gold industrial chandelier that hangs artificially precariously above. Everything in this hotel and casino is oversized. The chandeliers in the hallways that connect the two are easily fifteen feet wide and hang nearly three stories above. Each room or hallway is slightly different, but always stylish. Not one inch is overlooked.

The hotel is separated enough from the casino portion that one could forget they were in Vegas. The sounds of the slot machines were not even a distant whisper and the cigarette smoke does not exist here. It does make it slightly more difficult to get to the lobby from the casino, a convoluted set of directions and elevators, but it enhance the experience in thinking one is secreting themselves away. If one chooses to go to the casino, many restaurant options are available, and only a short walk further east reveals The District complete with bars, shops, and restaurants of all types.

You could spend weeks here and always have something new to do every day. The spa packages available rival those of the best spas in the world. From a yoga studio to a hotel guest only pool and hot tub to a pool with a beach entrance, Green Valley Ranch has some of the best amenities in the city. The fitness center looks out over the secret pool and would put to shame any gym, especially since here a towel and water bottle are provided at each machine and replenished often.  To get to the building that houses these, you walk through the vineyard and feel the temperature drop to a pleasant garden coolness from the grass and shrubbery. Behind the building sits the amphitheater and next to it of it the several pool options. The Mediterranean style buildings surround courtyard area that includes the pools, amenities buildings, plenty of lounge chairs to relax and transport you to a world away from the hustle of the Strip.

After requesting the west tower, the front desk informed us some of the rooms were under remodeling and construction so it was not a surprise. The workers were friendly and checked to make sure we were not disturbed, though with the size of the room it was unlikely the sound would travel that far. They only worked for a few hours during midday and kept the noise to a minimum.

The room itself had one of the largest bathrooms we have yet encountered with an alluring bathtub next to the marble sink. In the sleeping area, the king bed sat with plenty of room next to the arm chair, desk, and flat screen TV. Black out curtains kept the morning sun out without a peak. We had trouble connecting to the WIFI, but the issue was immediately fixed with a quick call to the front desk.  The ceilings were easily fifteen feet above and encouraged the feeling of luxury, as if in one’s own villa, along with the many palm trees outside the window.

Some deals can be found to say here but it is not a cheap location. The resort fee here is over $30.  Green Valley Ranch is filled with amazing restaurants like Hank’s and Borracha that have appealing Happy Hours and quality food. The many bars at are hidden through the hotel and casino all serve up different atmospheres, but all are quite relaxing. Visitors who do not plan to stay the night can grab a cocktail in the lobby bar and walk out to the poolside and enjoy a drink by the water and vineyard.  Even with only a single night stay, the stress and noise of our 24-hour city was lifted and quiet allowed to settle in. The regular yoga classes open to the public on Sundays will have new participants in us soon. A paradise in the heart of the desert!
